Yesterday Lyn Myself Loki and Billy spent a great time at Alfie’s Birthday party with his friends, Mum Sarah, Dad Rowan and Sister Bonnie.

Alfie and his friends enjoyed learning about owls and were delighted to be able to hold them. When we left, the children were all tucking into a wonderful birthday spread and had an Owl Pinata to smash later.

We talked about Owls and their hunting specialities and how they hunt.
Loki the Barn owl showed his skills at flying around the length of the laboratory. He also had some photo opportunities with a few skulls.

After an early morning start with a drive to the Lincombe Barn car park, I met the members of the group to lead them on our annual Dawn Chorus walk. We took the path from Lincombe Barn to the River Frome following the stream down to the river and back, but it was worth it!
Once we had all gathered the walk commenced and we were welcomed by a cacophony of bird songs of numerous species.

On the evening of 25th April Loki and I attended Acton Court (www.actoncourt.com) a wonderful historic house famous for its visit by Henry VIII. I gave a talk about the wildlife, Birds of Prey and Owls found on its grounds. About 40 people attended and were enthralled by Loki and took numerous pictures of him the evening was enjoyed by one and all.

Lyn I and Loki spent a surprisingly dry but muddy walk around Says Court farm sadly no wildlife was seen but Loki was a great attraction to all whilst we did owl pellet dissection to find out what barn owls eat and what small mammals live in the areas they hunt.
